"To Listen To The
Voice Of God Is better Than Any Sacrifice"
1 Samuel 15:23 Samuel tells Saul that
rebellion (not listening to the voice of God) is "as the sin of
witchcraft..."
Saul was a people pleaser. He says in
verse 24, that he "feared the people." They were facing a war with the
Amalekites and God told Saul to utterly destroy them because of what
they did to Moses (Exodus 17). Saul didn't end up killing everything, as
the Lord commanded because he wanted to save the best for the people.
Saul lied to Samuel and told him that he intended to sacrifice to the
Lord. King Saul wouldn't have trouble preaching in churches in America.
He was a people pleaser. This was Saul's only sin. This is the sin of
the world today. The politicians of today want to be accepted by the
people. The thought is that "we're all getting together and we'll have
peace". They don't care about acknowledging Jesus, they only want the
favor of the people and to rule over them. Saul didn't care about
obeying the Lord or the anointing that went with it, he just wanted to
continue ruling the people (verse 30). God wanted Saul's obedience not
his sacrifices! We need to be God pleasers NOT pleasers of men!
If we please men then we are in rebellion in the sight of God and we are
, according to the scriptures, practicing witchcraft! Please the Lord
NOT men!!!
